Job Summary: Kitchen Assistant
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Kitchen Assistant to join our team in a healthcare setting. The role involves assisting with the preparation and service of meals for residents/patients while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with preparation of meals in accordance with dietary requirements and portion controls
Support chefs/cooks in delivering meals on time and to quality standards
Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including counters, floors, and appliances
Ensure food is stored, labeled, and handled safely (in line with HACCP regulations)
Help with receiving and organizing food deliveries
Dispose of waste safely and hygienically
Adhere to infection control protocols and health & safety procedures
Provide respectful and discreet service in an environment that supports vulnerable individuals
Requirements:
Previous kitchen experience, preferably in a healthcare or care home setting
HACCP certification.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Good communication and teamwork skills
Kind, respectful, and professional demeanor suitable for healthcare environments
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
Desirable:
Manual handling Practical and infection control training
Experience working with older people or in healthcare facilities
